Microsoft, Intertainer jointly push on-demand entertainment

Content on-demand provider Intertainer Inc. and Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT) announced an alliance on Monday to deliver multimedia content to consumers on demand. Under the agreement, Microsoft will aid in Intertainer's push to accelerate wide-scale deployment of on-demand services, which promise new releases and classic Hollywood films, music, television programs, and shopping on consumer's PC via Intertainer's service over cable and digital subscriber lines (DSL). As part of the alliance, Microsoft also announced a minority equity investment in Intertainer to fund the company's expansion plans.
